Keith Kopp
Keith Kopp has been involved in education most of his life. He has a degree in music education and taught in the public school system as well as privately. Upon starting studies to become a piano technician, he joined the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) and passed the required exams to become a Registered Piano Technician (RPT). Keith serves PTG by holding offices on the local, regional and national levels. For seven years he was on the PTG board of directors serving as Pacific Northwest Regional Vice President, one of seven regional vice presidents. He has been active in teaching and tutoring throughout the United States and Canada. Keith has mentored many technicians as they have studied their trade and prepared to take the Registered Piano Technician (RPT) exams. He was an administrator of exams and tests within PTG for over 25 years. He currently serves as chairman of the Examinations and Test Standards Committee of PTG.
Keith has traveled to California, New York, and Italy to attend advanced training with major piano manufacturers, including Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway, and Fazioli pianos. He regularly attends local chapter technical meetings, regional seminars, and nation institutes as he continues to improve his abilities and expertise.
Keith has been the recipient of recognitions, honors and awards on local, regional and nation levels for his work, service and dedication. These include the Emil B. Fries Award of Merit, Portland, Oregon PTG Chapter; Jim H. Burton Award for Outstanding Service in the Pacific Northwest; Crowl-Travis Member of Note in Recognition of Outstanding Service and Dedication to the Piano Technicians Guild; and a BYU Staff and Administrative Employee Recognition Award for demonstrating competency.
